The direction for the CPEi 300 program was to create a look and feel that was visually exciting and broke the norm in terms of standard networking products. The visual identity needed to be unique.

Functional requirements drove the form of this product. The internal antenna is a large square block, open in the center and passively cooled with air flow in from the bottom and out the top and back. The unique shape of the venting areas grew out of this basic requirement and shaped the signature look of the design.

StudioRed worked in conjunction with Motorola and the overseas manufacturer to resolve engineering issues, assembly methods, external venting, and light piping to ensure that the final design embodied the complete Industrial Design intent.
