StudioRed was entrusted by Iridex to engineer their new product, the Iridex 532, a device used for laser eye procedures. Our mechanical engineering team meticulously engineered the internals, creating a custom sheet metal frame to house all components, with a specialized section to provide effective EMI shielding. Despite the tight timeline, we delivered seamless hardware and enhanced user experience through refined UX/UI design improvements that significantly boosted usability. Additionally, we produced high-quality marketing renderings, helping Iridex showcase the product with striking visuals on its website. Our collaborative efforts ensured the successful launch of the Iridex 532.

Engineering Overview

Sheet metal

We quickly engineered the internal frame, ensuring precise mounting and placement of parts for optimal functionality. Additionally, we implemented effective IMEI shielding to isolate a section of the internals from the rest, maintaining compliance and performance.

Prototyping

We created several sheet metal mockups using cardstock and a laser cutter to test various fittings quickly. This rapid prototyping approach allowed us to efficiently refine designs before finalizing them for production.
