The research process, in general, has been described as “… a process of steps used to collect and analyze information to increase our understanding of a topic or issue.”  As one of the top consultants for product development in Silicon Valley, StudioRed understands the importance of the research process to seeing a product through to a successful conclusion.  Our methodology to this research process involves the following three phases.

Improving Design and Usage

With a focus on technology products that has spanned three decades, a product obviously must meet the needs of those for whom it was designed..  We take the original product idea and analyze its components and features, extrapolating a variety of circumstances in which users may find themselves.  This part in the research process looks at the concept of the produce and how it can fulfill users’ basic needs.  A lot of thought and hands-on experimentation takes place, giving numerous factors consideration before moving on to the next step.

Exceeding User Expectations

Ideally, for a product to be the most successful it can be, you must not only meet customers’ needs but you must surpass them.  To manage this step, the thought processes must reach a location somewhere outside the normal“box,” in a manner of speaking, to imagine all the possibilities that the product could hold.  If those in charge of the research process also have “vision” – a vision to imagine the possibilities that tomorrow holds, the results of this step will most likely exceed user expectations.

Creating New Opportunities in Saturated Markets

When there has been a need for a certain product and many companies have struggled to fill it, yet there is still potential for that type of product to be of use to the consumer, how best can you market that product to find those who are still in need of its usefulness?  When a product’s market becomes saturated, new ways must be found to promote the product.  As well, those in charge who have vision are extremely crucial to seeing new uses for the product and finding a way to incorporate new growth opportunities into the base product.
