The MaxAttach 6000 is a network attached data storage system developed by Maxtor, intended to be a market leader. Studio Red responded to the challenge by crafting a flexible design at home either free standing or in a rack and capable of holding any combination of drives. Aggressive forms and a gun-metal finish speak to its market dominance. The team used constraints to their advantage by creating individual "status surfaces" and directional venting channels. "Grab" areas were incorporated in the frame accommodating "hot-swap" access.

From a field of more than 600, the MaxAttach 6000 was honored with the Best of Show Award at the Paris Network + Interop Conference held September 18-20, 2001.
