The design reflects the robustness and reliability of the underlying software and hardware. The bold elements and play of glossy and textured surfaces recalls tank armor or the workings of a bank vault. By engineering the same bezels to work on different sized chassis, the Engineering Team reduced part inventory and made it simple for DataDomain to display a common design language.

The Prototyping Shop developed the soft tools and techniques that allowed initial production of 300 units while the hard tooling was being finalized, giving DataDomain a headstart into the market.
