The A4Vision Face Reader is used to control entry access in the commercial and civil ID market. The system's heart is a 3D surface scanner working in invisible, near-infrared light that indentifies faces in real time. Visual and audio cues allow quick, easy positioning, optimizing throughput at entrances. The reader operates in both identification and verification modes.

Studio Red needed to create a unique identity that would convey the A4Vision brand, yet be unobtrusive in a wide range of use environments. The resulting package met the goal for a clean, low-profile product. The design focuses around the LCD screen, which provides visual feedback for operation and draws the user into correct position for rapid identification. A single IR-transparent lens unifies the form and conceals the camera and 3D scanner, creating the sense of a single, unified security scan. Clever engineering allows tight component placement while providing proper cooling for the sensitive scanners. An integrated in-wall mounting box allows the unit to also be inset into hollow walls and placed at various viewing angles.

The A4Vision Face Reader was honored as the Best New Biometric Product at the International Security Conference-West 2006.
